• New: worktop changing app for your iPad2

Imagining how a new kitchen will look is a bit of a leap of faith. CAD drawings can help as can the latest solution to come out of Austria, but to a certain degree you just have to hope.

Even giving your kitchen a makeover can be tricky. New doors, new flooring or new worktops can drastically change the look of a room.

Which is why the new iGranite app from Granite Transformations has won my approval. Simply take a picture of your kitchen, then overlay new worktops, doors and splashbacks onto the existing surfaces.

Instead of just imagining the difference, you can see more or less what it will actually look like.

No kitchen in yet? There’s also a library of kitchen images to play with.

If you don’t have an iPad2 (like me), you can head to a Granite Transformations showroom with a digital pic or they can come to your home to take pictures of your kitchen. Then they will email your favourite options for you to print out.

Find the app in the Lifestyle category of the iTunes App Store.

I think we’re going to see a lot more where that came from!
