These energy-saving, super-bright devices have snuck their way into almost every aspect of kitchen design, from popping up in plinths and under-cabinet task lighting to finding their way into appliances.
Behind these sleek white doors is a double strip of LEDs that direct their light backwards to illuminate the contents – so no more blocking out the light when you’ve just filled your fridge with the week’s shopping.
My snap from the recent unveiling shows it in a bit more detail:
As well as this neat solution, the new fridge freezers boast a raft of other features including humidity-controlled drawers that prolong the life of fruit and vegetables and specially insulted walls that increase efficiency despite being ultra-slim.
Not content with LEDs in cooling products, Panasonic have also just announced that it’ll shortly be launching traditional-look LED lightbulbs, designed to give the same warm glow as incandescent bulbs. So you can pop LEDs in your pendant lights too!
